SUNGKEMAN

Sungkeman comes from the Javanese word "sungkem," which means to kneel or sit in a crouched position while kissing the hand.

Speaking of marriage, this tradition is directed toward both parents, serving as more than just a request for their blessings.

In this context, Allia’s gesture seeks forgiveness for any missteps in her past, acknowledging the guidance and sacrifices of the parents as she prepares to start her new life.

The Sungkeman, with a backdrop featuring what is known as "broken arches." The bride's parents will be seated during the ceremony. The arch is filled with a vibrant array of flowers, ranging from warm oranges to soft pinks, creating a blend of colours for a sense of warmth and closeness.

The inclusion of jasmine flowers, strung together and elegantly draped across the arch. Jasmine (Melati), a flower deeply rooted in Javanese culture, traditionally used in various ceremonies, adding an authentic touch to the setting.

SIRAMAN

Siraman, a ceremony takes place before the wedding.

The term "Siraman" is derived from the word "siram," meaning to splash water or bathe.

The Siraman is more than just a ceremonial bath. It is a moment of profound cultural significance.

The carefully selected items, advised by the Ibu Adat, include essential components and ritualistic tools.

The decor features vibrant orange and yellow marigolds, with jasmine flowers hanging, invoking the essence of tradition.

The wooden chairs, central to the ceremony, are surrounded by greenery and floral arrangements.
